AIR
POCKET SYMPHONY
VIRGIN

It’s been a while since we were last subjected to the Gallic charm of Air, and it’s good to report that little has changed in their world. ‘Pocket Symphony’ is good but doesn’t break too much new ground, preferring to concentrate on the exotically scored, late night soundtracking that they do so well and effortlessly. Jarvis Cocker’s guest turn is a bit of an oddity, as it sounds like he’s not too comfortable singing within himself for the whole song. The Divine Comedy’s Neil Hannon fares much better on ‘Somewhere Between Waking And Sleeping’, a sublime piece of work and the best track on the album.
