Alexkid is capable of some pretty diverse stuff, and the Coracol album is an excellent fusion of song based material and more clubby tunes. Described as a ‘love letter to clubbers worldwide’, it makes for some exotic vocal tracks in particular, with the guests Daniella D’Ambrosio, Keith Thompson and Liset Alea excelling. ‘Love Letters’ itself is an excellent track – literally, loads of letters, but cleverly written! ‘Orm’ is an atmospheric piece of electro, while the title track is on a much larger scale. While Alexkid works with fairly minimal material, he secures some pretty intense music – and ‘Caracol’ is a rewarding listen as a consequence.
