FAITHLESS
TO ALL NEW ARRIVALS
COLUMBIA

The ‘new arrivals’ in question would seem to be the children Rollo and Sister Bliss have recently parented, though close attention to the lyrics indicates the future’s not all rosy. This isn’t what you might expect from Faithless on their sixth album – less obviously dancefloor bound, Maxi Jazz-led efforts and more ambient, soulful grooves with a tinge of melancholy. When Maxi does guest the edges return and the intensity moves up a notch, but songs like the title track are strangely affecting and uplifting. A curious record – but a largely successful one.
