Hernan Cattaneo follows on from last year’s notable mix for Renaissance with what is essentially a ‘concept’ album. The idea being that the first CD, Day Mix represents a more slowed down pace while second CD, Night Mix pumps up energy levels to accompany the dark. The result is nothing less than stunning with the blissful ambience of Day highlighting a sensual exploration of electronic sounds including a number of Hernan’s own productions alongside the likes of Martin Garcia and Sigur Ros’s exquisite ‘Svefn-G-Englar. Night then inevitably follows with an increase in tempo and intensity with more from Cattaneo, Way Out West and Quivver amongst others. This impressive collection of forward thinking music once again displays all of the qualities that make him one of the world’s finest DJ’s.
