It’s been a good 5 years for Cozzy D and his Lower East imprint, and that celebratory vibe is encapsulated here with a slew of reworks of the label’s better moments. Puente & Rosch’s ‘This Feeling’ was an absolute classic the first time round, and whilst Johnny Mikes re-enactment isn’t quite as delicious it still makes excellent use of those earworm melodies and lovely stabs over a much tougher backdrop. Elsewhere the head honcho himself gets to grips with Michael Janson’s ‘Addiction’, famously reworked by none other than MK the first time round, taking it to darker territories with a bouncier more hedonistic spin. The pick for me though is how Newbie Nerdz turn ‘Spellbound’ from Viadrina into a mid tempo piano cracker. Impressive EP from a consistently impressive label.
