Various Artists – King Of Rats

Sinnmusik has proven itself to be a fine purveyor of interesting and non standard house sounds in recent times, and this new EP from regular artist Roman Mühlschlegel and King of Rats proves that I spades once more, such is the lush invention on display in both originals and the two remixes included from Baldo and Georgi Barrel & Niclas. Opening up the EP is Gifted, a slithering, snaking and bass heavy house track with a genuinely decent original vocal from Krystal that lingers ling in the air. The production is rich and crisp, dynamic and expert and it really sets the track off as a result. The remix is more driven, peak time affair with shuffling drums, oodles of ace synthetic pads and plenty of feel good vibes. Meanwhile, Roman Mühlschlegel offers up Twisting Winds, a glitchy, textured house track with radiant pads, muffled and bumpy drums and lots of future attitude. The last track is a remix by Georgi Barrel & Niclas and comes laden with lots of analogue squelch, trippy chords and fat basslines. Overall, another more than interesting EP from this ever on point label.
