It may be the early days of 2008, but if you want a quality techno compilation you’d be well advised to pick up Soma’s annual round up from the end of last year. The Glasgow label continues to go from strength to strength, and 2007 saw a return to form for label heads Slam, who contribute ‘Azure’ and ‘No One Left To Follow’ here. Quality instrumental writing from the Vector Lovers and the Black Dog opens the collection on a deep note, while Funk D’Void supplies Balearic warmth. There’s also a taster for newer signing Let’s Go Outside, the icy ‘I’ll Lick Your Spine’ a prelude to the forthcoming album. Add Lee Van Dowski and a deep Alex Smoke mix and you have something well worth spending those Christmas vouchers on.
