THE SOUND OF YOUNG NEW YORK & TORONTO
PLANT MUSIC

An essential series for anyone with a passing ear for the edgier sound of New York.  It’s volume three and the guys at Plant Music have also decided to venture across the border to Toronto, which makes sense, given that it shares many of the sames mores and styles.  Compiled and mixed by Dominique Keegan of The Glass, it kicks off with These Bones’ take on “Toxic”, pretty spritely and more fun than you’ve any right to expect, before moving on to more serious inclusions like Death From Above 1979, Fever, Highway Stars excellent “Fucky Funky Music”, Panthers, Radio 4 (Headman’s mix of “Party Crashers”), The Glass, Ratatat (the heavy electroid “Seventeen Years”), and Neurotic Drum Band’s classic punk-funk “We’re Gonna Rock New York”.  There’s definitely a riot going on somewhere.  Anywhere this compilation is playing, most likely.
