Last year’s Too Slow To Disco received so much love that DJ Supermarkt has gone back to the scene of the musical crime, selecting another sixteen tracks for our occasionally guilty enjoyment. The truth is that despite the title it’s possible to dance (slowly!) to a good deal of this album, and the songs are definitely good enough for as much repeated play as the first enjoyed. Those songs include Streetplayer’s ‘Shades Of Winter’, the really fine ‘Medicine Woman’ from Paul Davis (whose ‘Too Slow To Disco’ gave the compilation its name), two great discoveries in Michael Omartian and Bruce Hibbard and Hall & Oates, who open up with ‘Alone Too Long’. The key track here though is Jimmy Gray Hall’s ‘Be That Way’, whose positivity and loping bass line sums up the compilation perfectly. They’re on to a winning formula here…
