Deep Sensation II: Mixed By Nick Harris
NRK

Deep house is one of dance music’s most timeless, recognisable and much-loved genres, spawned in 80s New York and Chicago then homaged and refined over the years by original perpetrators and new disciples drawn to it’s emotional power and a sound that can only be described as pure heaven in the early hours. NRK has been releasing proper house tackle for 12 years and celebrates by releasing an immaculate selection from its catalogue compiled and mixed by A&R mastermind Nick Harris. The dozen delights presented here represent a label which has always boasted total commitment to the cause and, crucially, a feel for the music’s magic. Gathered – in very particular order –  are Will Saul and Tam Cooper’s ambient mix of Chymera’s ‘Wish’, Nick Holder, Miguel Migs, Charles Webster’s sublime remix of Shara Nelson and NuFrequency’s monumental ‘Go That Deep’, irrepressible Joey Negro, Osborne, trackheadz, Foremost Poets’ always-devastating ‘Moonraker’, Scope, Mathias Heilbronn and ‘The Theme’ by Hot Lizard, featuring another mix from Mr Webster, who really is one of the masters of the genre. It’s deeper-than-deep, magically-woven and easily one of the compilations of the year.
