Definitely a game of two halves, this – as Sven Vath carries all before him on the first CD of this double mix set, ‘Disco’, before kicking back a bit for some deeper action on ‘Invaders’. ‘Disco’ in particular is a cracking mix, building from fairly chilled beginnings of the excellent ‘Symphony For The Apocalypse’ of Mathew Jonson through to the raking textures of ‘Mismoplastico’, a storming track from Virtualmismo. This itself follows on from one of the best remixes of 2008, Dubfire’s take on Radio Slave’s ‘Grindhouse’, and helps power the set through to a rousing finish. ‘Invaders’, meanwhile, majors on the cool sounds of people like Anthony Collins, Reboot and Kollektiv Turmstrasse, moving to a lovely deep techno sound. As ever, a strong performance from the redoubtable Vath.
