BPitch Control

‘Werkschau’ translates as ‘showcase’, which is exactly what this compilation represents – so in the unlikely event you’re a newcomer to the BPitch Control sound, then this one will be for you. The spin on the showcase, however, is that the generously packed tracklisting is full of exclusives, as none of these have been available before. Existing fans get a treat, then, as we begin with Cormac’s ‘The Present’, crackling with atmosphere, and enjoy the smoky textures of Sascha Funke’s ‘Hiddensee’ or the cool Zander VT track ‘Gotta Look Up To Get Down’. Tim Tim’s song ‘How We Moove’ feels a bit more funk, as does Chaim’s slow disco number ‘The Country’, while Thomas Muller’s ‘West’ goes for more driving, minimal techno. Signing off, meanwhile, are the glittering textures of Paul Kalkbrenner’s ‘Plätscher’ and the welcome return of Telefon Tel Aviv, enlisting Robin Guthrie for the wonderfully vivid ‘The Sky Is Black’. A very fine collection, perfectly pitched whatever your BPitch journey has been like so far.
