A newly recorded, freshly rearranged version of live favourite ‘This Fire’ is being released outside the UK (America and Europe). To save fans the trouble of tracking down and paying for expensive imports Franz Ferdinand are making it commercially available here via download only. Already a radio hit in the USA, the track now renamed ’This Fffire’ looks set to follow ‘Take Me Out’ as the band’s second big American hit. Trevor Jackson, who’s kept busy of late with remixes for Tom Vek and Portobella, has put his Playgroup cap on and delivered a fine rework. Staying close to the original’s rock feel the Output head honcho soberly funks things up until a bleepy synth à la Blackstrobe brings lunacy to the equation (136 BPM). There are very few vinyl promos out there but at least the remix will be simultaneously available to download.
