Mr Ho returns with a first outing on his Meta label since last year’s esteemed album The Soft Machine, which spawned that great ‘Magik’ EP. This goes all the way, whipping out references to Techno Past and planting them firmly in the present for maximum impact. ‘Symbolic Harmonic’ fires up a classic metallic piano clank-motif over a raging gallop which breaks down occasionally to let its stately magic boost proceedings to near-orbit.
‘Solserol’ rides a funky tribal groove into his Detroit fixation with its bendy strings and Mayday stabs. Motor City enthusiasts will ejaculate.
‘Manifest’ finishes up on a straightforward, bongo-splattered tribal tip.
