The second release from Moodymanc’s tastefully esoteric label continues to project unforgettable musical fever in your direction. ‘Adventures in Lagos’ creates the sort of atmosphere to get lost in (in a good way) with minimalist structures evolving across a sea of shimmering ambience care off fiery Cuban percussion, jazzy bass and accompanying joyous Afro flavours coupled with life-affirming vocals. ‘Three Strikes and Out’ retunes the percussion to again deliver a set of hypnotic rhythms that will feel equally at home via sunset or sunrise. Next, ‘Disorganics’ gets snazzy with snare drums while hitting you with a wash of beautiful Balearic infused guitar lines, leaving the Horace Silver tribute ‘Silver Lining’ to end with a further jazzy score that will challenge the perceptions of even the most traditional buff out there (in an even better way).
