Bob Moses – Hands To Hold EP – Scissor and Thread

Launching their limited vinyl only series New York imprint Scissor and Thread have gone and surpassed themselves. This is by far my favourite release this week, that is in large part down to the vocal which lies somewhere along the lines of thoughtful, deep and moody, but always soulful on ‘Hands To Hold’. The music is one step beyond too with chord progressions developing your expectations alongside sparkling sounds and invigorating rhythms – picture perfect. And just to prove that notable point an Acoustic version follows with not a beat in sight. ‘Too Close For Comfort’ continues on with moody vocals and rich layers of musical atmosphere, with the Frank & Tony Space Jam Remix adding tribal flavour and exciting ambience on their excellent reworking. Remaining tracks ‘Val’ occupies its own space and time, leaving ‘It’s Gone’ (feat. Francis Harris) to trip-out further with stunning, synthetic arpeggios accompanied by tastefully, breathy vocals. Looking forward to an album of this!?!
