It’s good to report Simon ‘Bonobo’ Green upping the tempo again as he does in ‘Flashlight’, a rather beautiful production that gets a firm house beat and some drifting atmospherics that all pass by rather pleasantly – until the track’s killer guitar line kicks in. ‘Pelican’ is also an up tempo number that taps into the same emotional area, though the atmospherics are a little more woozy this time and the broken beat more defined. ‘Return To Air’, meanwhile, is a lovely piece of widescreen down tempo music, with nicely detailed instrumentation and fuzzy edges inviting the listener into a dream state. A fine EP that tops off an outstanding year for one of Ninja Tune’s biggest players.
