The latest release from Cubism, a label that’s been churning out some quality music since 2007, comes from ‘My Own Mind’, a duo made up of Mark Lowry and MJ Fitz.
Three tracks make up this EP, with it’s opener ‘Big Beat’ that’s got a tribal feel with some subtle percussion variations that keep the beat interesting and rolling. Deep and melodic techno is the order of this track, with lots of subtle layers.
‘All Night’ kicks off with a stronger beat than Big Beat and with a vocal cut running through the track. Deep Techno with some old school rave stabs, a hypnotic mover that draws you in.
The lead track ‘Lemon Top’ bridges the gap between tech house and techno, so will appeal to a wide audience. Much more atmospheric than the previous two tracks in the package, with clever delay on the vocal that really adds to the build of the track, whilst the synths filter in more and more. This being my favourite of the three track EP and certainly leaves me wanting to hear more from these guys.
