The D Edge label goes from strength to strength now with one of its most cluttered releases. Behind it is the Phil Hinter Ensemble, a joint project between Philogresz and German talent Simon Hinter. As well as releasing on their own Phil, they have put out music on Love Unlimited Vibes and of course D-EDGE and now come correct with three more lush, musical house tunes that will make you dance and feel special things.
The Owl goes first and is a squelchy number with lush trumpets, a loose jazzy feel and prickly beats that will get you on your toes. In The Air is another fresh and inventive concoction with clipped female vocals stitched into a dense synth tapestry. Slick beats and off time hit help drive it along and this one really does sound like little else. Last but by no means least is Struggle, a perfectly vibes and atmospheric brew of wooden hits, drunken woozy synths and spoken word that is intoxicating and warm, insular and fresh. Overall another fine EP from the label.
