It’s always a good thing when you get a release like this to challenge the perceptions of what you listen to. So, apparently inspired by the acclaimed illustrator David Polonsky, ‘Lullaby’ also hints at The Cure with pulsating basslines and almost gothic overtones from the eighties. But basically this hauntingly, sometimes beautiful, always atmospheric piece of music only adds fuel to PillowTalk’s already bright flame by transcending the dull and boring. Sammy D’s vocal then certainly completes the picture by once again making his presence felt throughout with dead-pan icy cool. Second track, ‘We All Have Rhythm’ features even more vocal this time accompanied by syncopated piano, bleeps and pads, although you do miss the previous moody intensity.
