Problem Makers – The Filmmaker – (Univack Records)

If you like your house music nice and melodic and emotional then this new EP is for you. It is from a pair of adventurous Spanish producers who really know how to lay down the magic and it comes on the always worth checking out Univack label. As well as three great originals, the EP comes with three top remixes from David Granha, Pete Oak and Krink that really help stand it out from the pack.

The first cut opens the EP in truly majestic and elegant style, with lots of sweeping chords and shiny melodies really trapping you in a colourful groove. The remix is by Krink and is even more high pressure and physical, with alarm like synth stabs that really wake you up. From there Soulshatter is a little more turbulent and dark in its energies. Here the drums are rubbery and the synths are more loopy and manic. It still makes for great cut though. Then the last original is Gaia, which completely flips the script. For me this is the best track, it is deep, moody, warm and really sucks you down into a lovely groove. Pete Oak, a famed Suara producer, then remixes it and layers in his own melodic touches and flips into more of a main room track. There is lots to love about this EP, which is a second great offering from Problem Makers this year and proves they are really on to something.
