This thoroughly stunning production from Belgian duo Raw District has that timeless combination of deliciously pounding drums, richly emotive synth lines, alongside the teasing vocals which feature prime-time on title track, ‘Ragged Star’. Highlighting the haunting voice of Ellipsis and referencing a classic Chicago bassline this is great on so many levels, aiming from the heart of matter straight to the dancefloor. Josh Wink, not surprisingly, then transforms it with an unrelenting appeal comprising of even more vigorous beats, addictive handclaps plus funky Techno attitude on his excellent, aptly named Rethink versions 1 and 2. Second original, ‘Turn Away’ featuring the icy vocals of Giorgia Angiuli is moodier still, yet the more captivating of the two, with chiming Marimba’s and introspective layers of sound engaging your attention throughout.
