Romanthony – Floorpiece – Glasgow Underground

This latest in the ever expanding series from sterling imprint G.U sees a feast of versions rework the late Romanthony’s spoken word once again. For reference the thumping Original remains intact with its Disco sampled grooves still feeling hot. And then onto the new remixes which has Claptone take pride of place reworking the commanding voice over smoldering beats and keys. Taking it to the next level are the excellent Leftwing & Kody who hit you with a typically hard bassline and addictive rhythms, with Dogmatik’s Alex Arnout turning it upside down with dark Techno beats and contrasting sparkling synths. Which, finally leaves the label’s own Kevin McKay to supply two punchy and funky House versions that sound instantaneous with explosive breakdowns and heart-racing pads, as Metodi gives it all yet another twist with abrasive electronics to end.
