Tim Penner ft. Amber Long – Forgive Me – (99percentrecordings)

This sits neatly upon the edge of House and Techno but is so evocative that definitions don’t really matter that much. The beats are not only heavy-duty but impact with plenty of swing and funk, while music builds in layers of tension inducing moodiness that reward you when Amber Long’s perfectly timed vocal hits. The words themselves may not be the most original, but the uneasy sentiment of the voice certainly plays out effectively. DNYO remixes with an unnerving selection of drums and dark synths adding an even more sinister edge. G.Pal’s Ethereal remix gets more progressive, with Lank’s finishing mix taking things deeper with harsh bass and imaginative vocal treatments completing the picture.
