Talking about House music this latest from the excellent Needwant plays it just right with four equally impressive cuts that could each actually merit a release in their own right. However, back to reality and the opening ‘Never Again’ by Urulu which has tough, funky bass play off against moody, staccato stabs and quietly melodic vocals, while all sounding very peak-time in the process. Both producers then explore moodier chords with the deeper ‘Mind The Gap’ featuring swinging 90’s rhythms and warm voices. Chaos in the CBD then changes gear with the richly atmospheric and rather gorgeous ‘Mariana Trench’ leaving the apt ‘Between Us’ to see the pair join forces again with a tougher line in Bass and Acid sounding just as vibrant.
