Rennie Foster

(Subject Detroit / Rebirth / Gemini / Dirty Works)

01. Rennie Foster – Devil’s Water (James Zabiela’s re-EQ version) – Rebirth
Zabiela pumps up the original mix with a drastic compression and EQ treatment that turns the subtle layered dynamics of the original into a throbbing bass-heavy big room monster. I definately see a trend of guest re-masters from top DJs in the very near future.

02. NUfrequency – Go That Deep (Rennie Foster’s unreleased encore mix) – Unreleased
This is an unreleased remix i did of one of the best recent house vocals in my opinion. I just had to do something with that accapella! I have been dropping this as an end of the night track in all my sets recently and it never fails to make people put their hands up and close their eyes. Big, big euphoric synths is what this is all about. No kick drum needed.

03. Bob Rogue – 95 North to Baltimore – Dirty Works
I swear this is one of the hottest, most simple and effective bass synth riffs of recent times. Coming up soon on an exclusive compilation for Juno Download, you need to find out about it. 6 notes=Big bomb.

04. The Future / The Foster Kidz – They Call Me / Butterscotch – Sect UK
One of my proudest moments as a father and a fantastic record that i will play with gumption. Aleckxis (The Future) brings DJ Bone’s signature Detroit style to a more playful level with a childish but sophisticated edge while Dahlia and Mariko (The Foster Kidz) deliver a smooth flute driven housey groove with all the sweetness of a child’s appreciation for good candy. A hot record with all the makings of a classic in my honest opinion.

05. Carlos Gibbs – Where are you Carl? (Alland Byallo Remix) – Trenton
A warm and well made remix here with lush chords and a well produced, clean sound. I am feeling it.  Very good quality deep techno from one of the Tokyo scenes movers and shakers.

06. Mark Broom – Got Me Working – Flux
A very playable track with elements of both old and new. Mark Broom has been making himself heard (again) with his foray into “modern” techno as of late and this track is sort of a head on collision between what Mark used to do and what he does now. Both being good. A kick ass offering from Chris Finke’s respectable UK imprint worth picking up for sure.

07. Various Artists – Canada Loves Techno – Restructured
A fantastic compilation featuring quality tracks from Taho, Brian Kage, Greg Gow, myself and a host of others. Spans a wide range from ambient style intro tracks, minimal housey stuff to hard edge rollers and synthy Detroit style deepness.

08. Rennie Foster – A Commitment to Transit – Gemini
This is one of my best records i think and iam very proud of it although it seems to have gotten a bit overlooked amidst all the Devil’s Water hype, so please give it a listen! Features nice remixes by Chi-Town veteran Angel Alanis, Kaufman and Ferdinand and an absolute gem of a mix from Fractal (the man behind the big “Up” track on Kompakt with Perc) .

09. Fen D’Arioto – Force Universelle EP – Dirty Works
This is one of the best and brightest up n’ coming producers i have had the fortune to come across. A great talent that i am sure you will be hearing more about very soon. Original and sophisticated synth driven, melodic tracks with a rare honesty and rawness about them. Check it.

10. Aaron Carl – If There is a Heaven (ICAN Ascension Mix) – Promo
Not only is Aaron a seriously talented producer and DJ he is one of the best vocalists working in House/Techno today in my opinion.  This is a powerful tech-house style rework from Santiago Salazar, one of my favorite producers, featuring blazing hot keys and subtle effects on the vocals. Getting lots of play from me at the moment.

Rennie Foster “Devil’s Water” is out now on Rebirth Records with mixes from The Youngsters and Kiki
