Trainspotting with Genetic Funk

1. Doug Lazy – Church (Clap 9am mix) – Quantize Recordings

Doug Lazy is back with an absolute stomper after many years away from house music – love love love!!

2. Genetic Funk & Michelle Weeks – Love Life (GF Vocal mix) Grounded Records

Summer soulful house with a positive message delivered by Michelle Weeks with feeling.. I could have chosen any of the mixes but the GF vocal was one of those studio sessions when things just fell into place, I got a bit carried away and ended up with a 11 min extended version 🙂

3. Kink – Valentines Groove – Clone Royal Oak

I’m really feeling some of Kink’s productions and this one hits the spot for me with those chords and its stripped dirty but warm jazzy feel, absolutely love it!

4. Groove Assassin – Blow The Party – Delve Deeper Recordings

Groove Assassin coming with some bounce, great groove, great sample and great video on youtube….slammin!

5. Art Of Tones- I Just Can’t (Get Over It) – Local Talk

Art of Tones coming funky with this release and to be fair I could have picked both sides of the release, but ‘I Just Can’t’ pipped it for me with the infectious funk laden groove to irresistible resist… add some chords, acid and a little brass for good measure.

6. Kevin Yost – My Love (Original mix) – i! Records

Kevin Yost comes with another rolling deep groove dripping in his usual polished sound. I like the way this tracks builds and keeps my interest with elements dropping in and out.

7. Detroit Swindle – Hows Music – Heist Recordings

Old school feel with a nice use of a sample from earlier on in the year, just love the groove and vibe on this a real head nodder.

8. Ezel ft Tumelo – Get Down (Ezel Bayacou – Atjazz tweak – Local Talk

All about the vocal for me on this, but obviously helped heavily by the backing track which is first class and you can hear the Atjazz tweak in full effect –  polished deep soulful house at its best.

9. Eliphino – Isabella Road – Joy In Repetition

Deep afroish vibe from Eliphino, again keeping it moving along nicely and building the groove.. love it!

10. Rapson – Thats Real – Friday Fox Recordings

This just popped onto my radar and I could easily include all 4 tracks from this Heat EP by Rapson, but ‘Thats Real’ stood out for it’s infectious groove and pure warmth and bounce..
Genetic Funk & Michelle Weeks ‘Love Life’ will be released on 26th August  on Traxsource promo / Full release 9th September 2016 on Grounded Records.
