Trainspotting with The Willers Brothers

What do you get when you mix two brothers, with equal amounts of ambition, natural talent and a fair old dose of Northern charm? …The Willers Brothers, one of the most exciting young acts to hit London’s electronic music scene and their current smash ’Mind Craft Glasses’ is getting massive support from Marco Carola and Yousef amongst many others whilst riding high on the Beatport charts. Just back from Malta’s Groovefest Festival and with an Ibiza date in the diary for Carl Cox, the Willers Brothers are raring to fire up Egg LDN: The Birthday on Saturday May 7th.

Having been in London for the last three years, the Willers Brothers have notched some impressive achievements including their residency at Egg London to several well-received releases, hosting shows on London’s premier online stations like Hoxton FM, Egg LDN Radio, bloop. and Le Chic FM. The brothers place their focus on a distinctly funky, groove-driven form of electronic music that combines elements of both house and techno. Of course, mere mixing alone is not enough to carry any DJ to the top in this day and age, which is where The Willers Brothers’ personality comes into play. Not afraid to go for it just as much as the dancefloor faithful when they’re behind the decks, you can expect an energetic, entertaining performance each and every time. Add in their intuitive selection, ability to engage with their audience throughout their sets and you’ve got a winning formula!
Here they talk us through the importance of being a resident DJ at Egg LDN and deliver their Hot 10 tracks.

Why do you think that the role of a resident DJ is so crucial to a successful club night?

We think the resident DJ plays a massive role at any club as they know the crowd better than anybody else and know how to set the right tone for the rest of the night , They also know how to finish the night and to keep the crowd going

What do you think your duty is as a resident?

It’s to play whats needed to warm up the room ready for the headliners to takeover
Tell us about the very first time you played at Egg Ldn and how was it for you?

The first time we played was about 3 years ago and we played up in the Loft and had so many friends that came to watch us play – it really was a great night. After that we knew that we wanted to start playing more at Egg LDN and we’ve been resident DJs for the last 2 years.

How do you think that you represent the club and its music policy?

Well we spend lots of hours finding new music and we find a lot of it to play especially for the warm up slot, which we feel a lot of people don’t do nowadays. They want to play all the big tracks no matter what time they’re playing.

For a long time the resident DJ was overshadowed by the headline act but the scene has come to appreciate and acknowledge them again, with many club nights adopting well known residents for series. Why do you think it’s changed?

Well we think resident DJs have always been important and have always played a big part at any club, but now it’s more acknowledged how important the residents really are .

What track in your collection always sets the tone for the night at Egg Ldn?

It would have to be Mandar – Fouad

How do your sets differ from when you’re playing as a resident to when you’re playing headline gigs?

Like we said before you can’t play the same music in a warm up set as you can on a headline set so it’s just a matter of having a big music collection to suit all different times of the night. That’s one of the great benefits of being a resident

What has been your favourite momenta playing as a resident DJ at Egg Ldn?

I think warming up for Mathias Tanzman when he played his first 6 hour set 2 years ago was massive for us and was definitely one that stands out for us. There’s been so many great times at the club and can’t wait for The Birthday with Hector Coutu who we’ve played with before.
