Mad Monkey follows up a fine first EP with a second sensational effort. This one comes from Italian pair Allen & Filix, who have released on Digital Traffik already this summer to great acclaim. They work together often and really cook up some impressive results. Here they do so again with two great new tunes.
Opening up is It’s Groove On, a full fat and supple house cut that really sucks you in. Clever filter sweeps, well treated vocals and a popping sense of rhythm all make this one jump from the speakers. It is fresh dancing tackle and then comes Copy Button. This one is deeper and more stripped back, with pinging rubber drums and icy hi hats slithering through the undergrowth. Over six minutes it really hooks you in and casts a spell on you and as such makes for a devastating two track EP.
