Patch Series is a new label emerging from Bologna, Italy. Yet while the label might be up-and-coming, the man responsible for pushing the music has been doing so for some time. Step forward label owner, Mique, a man who’s equally likely to spin Detroit-inspired techno as he is weighty, Romanian grooves. In that essense, he’s a very modern DJ, but he’s also one who makes for a perfect addition to our Back To Mine series. Here’s what went down when we put some questions to him recently…
DJ Dove – Organized
This one is a record that is good for every occasion and I play it often. The ascent of the organ is interrupted by an exciting melody and then both join together in a perfect combination between pad and melody, all accompanied by a delicious old school groove. Amazing.
Heiko Laux – Moved (Ricardo Villalobos Rmx)
One of my favorite records and one of the most beautiful tracks remixed by none other than Ricardo Villalobos. This one could last for hours and people would not stop dancing to it.
Damon Lamar – Large Crowd
This record has great value for collectors and you’ll understand why when you listen to it.
R Wong – Life Principles (Temple 003)
It is time to move up a gear with some hypnotic vibes!
CiM – Bias
There are not many words for this track, so I’ll just go with ‘wonderful’.
Moodymann – Shades of Jae
I grew up with this record and everyone should listen to it. This track is an explosion on the dance floor.
Omar S -Day
I love Omar S. In this case, he uses a killer vocal sample that repeats itself. Again, this is one you could listen to for ages on end.
G76 – Timber So
Delicious production here with a big Romanian style. A good track to start any party.
Third Wave Trax – Untitled B1
This one is sensual with a groove and a progression of a few chords that offers a very long trip. I always associate this record with the after party at the first light of dawn.
Max Loderbauer – Giant Hug
I have always admired Max Loderbauer, he always manages to amaze me. His work greatly influences my own productions too.
