Get Physical Music kicks off 2022 with Thandi Draai’s landmark Africa Gets Physical Vol. 4 which features some of the most exciting names in the South African house scene Producer, vocalist and singer Draai has been a core part of the label this year. It is where she has already released her ‘Jika EP’ as well as collaborative singles from this mix with DJ Beekay and Candy Man. Before now she has won several high-profile competitions – one of which saw her get mentorship from Wyclef Jean. She has also been on MistaJam’s Africa Week on the BBC, appeared on hit South African show Masters of Spin and is currently a resident DJ on Ukhozi FM’s Bhampa2Bhampa show every Friday, which is the leading radio station in Africa. As such she is a preeminent light in the vibrant South African scene and is now getting international acclaim as the country’s first woman of colour to release solo tracks.

Says Thandi of this adventurous new selection, “What a time for Afro Tech House, it’s alive and vibrating through the whole Universe right now. I am super honored to be compiling this year’s Africa Gets Physical Vol 4 and for the opportunity to work with such amazing artists from right across the African continent. I’m coming through unapologetic about our African electronic dance music. Camagu!”

Growing up I listened to a lot of musicals/classic music with my late mom, and out of all the musicals ‘Whistle Down the Wind’ live performance by miss Arena has to be one of the most soulful vocal performances from a musical I have ever felt/heard. I still sing my heart out to this beautiful composition.

2.Nelly Furtado_ I’m Like A Bird
I used to buy a lot of music growing up it would take just one song to convince me to purchase an album. Nelly Furtado’s I’m like a bird was one of those songs I felt once and wanted more. Also, the visuals and lyrics are just gorgeous, in those times, she was just fresh vibes, her style vocally was just a breath of fresh air.

3. Wyclef Jean – Two Wrongs
Oooooh Two Wrongs for me will never get old, this was one of those songs that every time I heard it was a treat, gorgeous vocals and composition, and the lyrics are so on. I never thought one could infuse a Reggae vibe with soul RnB, ooooooH this song is just some kind of Sexy.

4. Sade_By Your Side 
By your side, has to be one of the most beautiful songs ever written and composed. I met miss Sade through this song and Ive loved her music ever since, so simple, so beautiful so elegant. She has inspired my Music . She is timeless.

5. Oumou Sangare _ Saai Magni
When I want to feel close to God , this is one of many African songs that get me there. Our Queen Oumou Sangare is not alone in this song, She evokes emotional depth that I cant even explain,and the the folk intsruments just finish you off.

6.Summer Walker_ Girls Need Love Too
I stan new age RnB ,They dont hold back on any detail lol. I love this song cause , Wow, this is real life situationships. Ya Noooo, This song lyrically is heated and the way she sings she makes it sound so soft, This one is a song for married people though, Lol. Summer Walker Catalogoue is just Litty.

7. Sabrina Claudio_ Stand Still
If I had to imagine how  a Siren  sounds  like Sabrina is one of those huns who just capture you from her lyrics , to harmonies and hypnatizing vocals , ists a whole vibe, this song really gets me in my feels, its just Gorgeouse.

8.Angelique Kidjo-Agolo
Agolo, What a Vibe , the fisrt time I felt this song and saw the visuals,  I was blown away. They were a head of our times. Also the message behind Agolo is just powerful , it had to be a hit. This is a full on African Vibe/Celebration!

9. Cee  Elassaad ft Thandi Draai_ Lomhlaba
This one is always on my playlist, Any time , any place, during any situation. This simple prey is a reminder of how beautiful Mother Nature Is. Its a feel good song.

10.Bon Iver_ 21 Moon Water
Most Of Bon Iver music gives me chills, But this specific song, gives me chills, I sometimes get teary eyed feeling this Jam, its so beautiful, its so muscally in depth the arrangment and progression of this song is out of this world.
