Un Mondo

Un Mondo is the brainchild of DJ GGB aka Glen Butcher, it is a precursor to one world festival, a collective of Dj/ producers with over 25 years of serving up atmospheric vibes to the ravers, this event will be our first as UN MONDO but we have been putting on events under many different brand names for years, our music policy is more of the tribal/soulful/ Funky and afro persuasion, we strive to select some of the industry’s key players when it comes to curating our lineups, fundamentally it is always about the vibes when it comes to our events, we are looking forward to bring a part of the 1 world festival family. Here we speak to Glenn ahead of the One World festival.

Whats your background in music?
I have been a DJ for the past 26 years, promoter for the past 15 years. I started off playing jungle/drum n bass, then moved on to house and garage, and now in love with tribal/deep/tech house.
What came first for you, was it promoting or DJing? Or both?
DJing came 1st then came the promoting side of things. My 1st big event was called “House Fever” which gave a platform for a lot of the London house scene DJs we have today.
Could you please tell us a bit more about Un Mondo, why it started?
Un Mondo was born during the pandemic. Un mondo means 1 world. During a time when everything seems to be segregated it was a fitting name for the moment.
What have you been up to this past year? Has the pandemic and this time off changed your plans and the vision for the launch of Un Mundo?
We tried to stay as active and relevant as possible during this time, doing lots of live stream events and a few social distance events under another brand name I was involved with (State Of Happiness) but wanted to create a tribal house brand that would bring the best UK DJs if this genre of music together to play for people who love this music ….
You’ve said before that your events have a special vibe and feel to them, why is the Un Mondo vibe so special? And what makes it unique?
I truly feel its the people who love the music , without people loving what we do we are nothing. Those who follow the brand are truly the best ravers on the planet..
You’ve been promoting events for 15 years now, how do you think that the scene has changed and how have you had to adapt?
We simply moved with the times always stayed fresh and relevant.  The rave scene went through a few changes during this time but quality music has always been our number 1 priority .
Tell us more about working with One World Festival and how did the partnership come about? And what are you looking forward to most about the event?
One World Festival is Un Mondo’s big brother. The vision and people behind one world are a family Un Mondo is a family now we are 1 massive family so made perfect sense to merge the teams together and now here we all are 😉…
Why do you think it’ll be a good home for your trademark tribal/soulful/funky sound?
It’s the perfect home because no other festival has made a home for this genre of music to be played to such a big platform in the UK which definitely suits us.
You’ve worked with a lot of the artists on the lineup before, including a lot with the well known brand Audio Rehab, how good does it feel to continue working with friends over time?
It’s just perfect  nothing better than working with brands I’ve seen start from scratch. We are all on the same mission in our own worlds so it’s great to reach our goals under one umbrella .
Following on from One World Festival, what is your long term vision for Un Mundo? And are there any other side projects you’ll be working on?
My long term vision is to concentrate on Un Mondo and One World and help them grow over the next few years then hopefully collaborate with brands overseas and bring the UK tribal sound to the masses. If this is achieved anything else will be a bonus.
