Back To Mine With Don Turi

After releasing music on Get Physical, Kitsuné and Citizen Records, Don Turi has proved he has a unique sound that mixes up many different strains of techno with his own compositional and sound design skills. He has also made quite a reputation for himself with his intense live sets but he recently got into mixing so composed these tracks with his time behind the decks in mind. His long experience as a musician, relentless love for the machines that built up the sound of techno and his expertise as a music producer give these tunes a refined and unique sound. As his new ‘A Teknoid Shadow EP’ featuring Worshhhip drops on Scratch Massive’s bORDEL Records, DMCWorld goes back to mine with Don Turi.

Keith Jarrett – The Koln Concert

I discovered this record in a film by Nanni Moretti in the early 90’s. I’ve listened to it so much by this point that I can almost sing the song the whole way through. In my eyes, he has been touched by grace.

Peter Gabriel – The Rhythm Of The Heat

I grew up with this music. My father was a huge fan and would take me to see Peter Gabriel live in the late 80’s. He would put me on his shoulders to watch his concerts, marking the moments I decided I would spend my life on the stage.

Aphex Twin – Come To Daddy

I’ve been following Aphex Twin’s work since the beginning of his collaboration with Warp.

The first time I saw this video clip I was in Dresden for a film festival. I was in shock!

Tricky – Makes Me Wanna Die

I was a young teenager in the 90’s and one of the revolutions of the time was Trip Hop.

Trentemoller – Moan (Trentemoller Remix)

It’s the track that always makes me dance.

Vitalic – No Fun

As he likes to say, his music is “deglangue”  and I love that.  He has his own sound and that’s surely the greatest power of a producer.

Clara Rockmore – The Swan

She’s the greatest theremin player in the world and makes me cry every time I listen to her.

Ornette Coleman – Lonely Woman

For me, he was the door to experimental music. I fell in love with his music. I then discovered improvised music and started to understand how to turn a “noise” into a “sound”

Kraftwerk – The Model

When I heard this tune for the first time, I wondered how it was possible. It was completely magical and I wanted to make these sounds. I immediately left the house and bought my first synth.

Juan Atkins – Model 500 – No Ufo’s

He’s simply the godfather, nothing of what I do would exist without him.
