DAVE CLARKE PRESENTS
REMIXES & RARITIES
MUSIC MAN

Since the late 80s Dave Clarke has been on a mission to napalm the fluff and blandness out of electronic dance music, using endless imagination and defiantly punk/John Peel attitude with his dynamic constitution of old school electro, Chicago and Detroit forms as bedrock. This double CD set ropes together a gamut of the remixes he’s perpetrated since the early 90s for an array of names including the Chemical Brothers, Leftfield, Moby, New Order, Hell, Gary Numan, Depeche Mode and Slam, as well as unexpected targets like Chicks On Speed, Super Furry Animals and the Passions’ ode to ex-Clash roadie Roadent ‘I’m In Love With A German Film Star’. Like his incendiary DJ sets, Clarke relentlessly injects his inimitable attack with switchblade dexterity. His own musical obsessions are indulged when let loose on old school legends like Green Velvet, Robert Armani and X-313’s ‘Interferon’, which is just vicious. There’s also his own electro vocal outing with Jane Murphy doing the honours. For a taste of one of electronic dance music’s most fearlessly uncompromising talents, this booty-shaking compilation is a fantastic consolidation, even if it does only tell half the story which will be complete when the boxed set of Dave’s own stuff appears one day.
