Even if you bought the original release of Moby’s well-received latest, this deluxe edition is well worth considering. This isn’t just a rehash with a bonus track or two, although it has those in the deep house of ‘Stay Down’ and the more resilient pop of ‘One Time We Lived’. No, this has two extra discs – the first of which is an ambient album, a complete reworking of the original with moody, cloudy synth chords and weightless strings. There are very few beats here, in the best Moby downtempo tradition, and the music moves seamlessly from one track to another, though the mood does remain largely downbeat. The second extra disc is a DVD of live performances from Hurricane, Sonne Mond Sterne and Exit, with particularly fine versions of ‘Go’ and ‘Lift Me Up’, plus animations and videos. Well worth the extra outlay, especially if you haven’t bought it yet.
