A welcome reappearance for Mr Scruff’s 1997 debut, initially released on Pleasure Records but captured by Ninja and given the remaster treatment.
Although the sound reflects a low budget album, in no way does this affect the quality of the record, which brims with characteristics of his later music – hip hop, dub and languid jazz samples, all realised with a sense of good humour. With the mellow ‘Jazz Potato’ and the mischievous ‘Chicken In A Box’ included, it’s a mandatory listen for Scruff diggers.
