Chances are you will have heard of elrow even if you haven’t been to the party: it’s is an outrageous and over the top affair with crazy colours, huge production and vast festival like events that blow away anyone who attends. Two people who know that well are CAAL & Baum, and they are the pair behind the next EP on the party’s label arm.
Up first, Downtown Beat is a playful number that builds and builds in little passages before exploding after a big breakdown. It’s rubbery, loose and filled with popping vibes that will kick right off on the floor. The second cut is more physical and driving, with stiff drums and creased hi hats cutting up the groove. Loopy sub bass brings some fluid feelings and dark vocals add an element of late night mischief. It’s a robust and rugged track that will make anyone sit up and take note, and rounds out a fine EP.
