Two CDs provide the sweet’ exotic soundtrack to Germany’s annual Waldschwimmbad Obertshausen festival which is reportedly all green fields and swimming pools – hence the title. Sounds like fun and the music spun by Dice and Villabos – recorded live at last year’s party – more than confirms that. The Green CD is Loco – a resident at DC10 – who goes deep’ low-slung and chunky. Sounds sprinkle and click while the immaculate groove calmly proceeds to build a vibe that becomes intoxicating as he weaves cuts by Bucci/Pink Elln’ Bearback and his own ‘Jacuzzi Games’. His own tunes have appeared on Minus’ Cocoon and Ovum’ which may give a clue. The Blue CD is Chile’s Villabos – worth checking on Playhouse and Perlon and renowned for his back-to-back sets with Hawtin. His style is shimmering’ shadowy and insidious as electro and jazz shades get worked in via tracks by names inlcuding Rob Mellow’ John Tejada and Robag Wruhme. Subtly euphoric.
