It contains 12 tracks from across Marley’s catalogue, reinterpreted to mirror a world, which has been influenced by his legacy. Chris Blackwell, Island Records founder and the man responsible for discovering Marley in 1972 says “Roots, Rock, Remixed retains the songs and the spirit of the original Wailers’ recordings and creates a great dance party record.” And ‘dubbed out party bliss’ is exactly what you get, Soul Shakedown Party (Afrodisiac Sound System Remix), Duppy Conqueror (Fort Knox Five Remix) are great examples of this, along with Paul & Price Remix of Small Axe, which dare I say sounds better than the original. Essential for the Marley fan or for some seeking out the less obvious Bob classics.
