Devil In The Detail
Interchill

With maybe a nod to the idea that too much detail can get in the way of a
spatially aware rhythm, Interchill’s latest collection of international
artists, “Devil In The Detail”, is another further out exploration of all
things that lie in-between when it comes to electronica.  Managing to touch
upon breaks, D&B, glitch, tech and minimalism, it demonstrates that it’s all
about space.  Each track is it’s own highlight.  Eat Static’s “The Third
Nebula” takes the old trip-hop manifesto and comprehensively smashes it,
effortlessly reinventing itself every minute through it’s journey of looped
up bass, breaks, eastern jazz, secret promises and Tijuana brass; Cheju’s
“Ergi” chimes through the kind of electronic glitch-hop that Pole would have
been proud to call his own; Naiepa’s “Blue” flirts with tricky bass patterns
and more broken electronics; Bigeneric’s “Appollonia” is a shimmering, icy
techno cut.  Fourteen cuts of hypnotic music that’s not afraid to
acknowledge the influence of artists like Black Dog, System 7, Aphex Twin,
Basic Channel, etc.  If you’re digging the likes of Echospace right now, you
might just find this an ideal bed fellow.
