A great choice for Fabric to kick off 2016, Jesse Rose steps up with a really strong mix that celebrates both the globetrotting DJ and the art of live performance. He recorded the mix in three separate sessions in New Jersey, LA and Sydney, but the mix is done live – and because of that feels instinctive. It doesn’t take long for him to hit the groove, and there is an irresistible bounce and good feeling to the house music he puts in the middle part of the set, embodied by the rolling beats and smoky breakdown of Kask’s ‘The Right Way’. With a well-structured mix Rose paces the music really well but saves the best until last. The final trio – the superb ‘Sin City’ from Kyodai, a wonderfully uplifting ‘synthapella’ with Seven Davis Jr of ‘It’s Not Over’ and finally the classic Steve Silk Hurley track ‘The Word Is Love’ – is a joy from start to finish. Midnight Snacks, his new project with Junior Sanchez, gets an outing in the excellent remix of Mathias Kaden’s ‘Rawtone’ – which sums the whole mix up perfectly. Positive and energetic, this is a new year mix with a spring in its step and a clear invitation to buy!
