It’s colour themes for Bargrooves this year, and Magenta promises and delivers warm, sultry house with soul. Mandy Edge’s wonderful vocal on Soularis’ ‘I Told You’ sets the scene for a silky smooth first mix from Ben Sowton, enhanced by cool sounds from John Dahlback and Numaro. The influence of Todd Edwards is clear at the start of James Fierce’s mix, a party set that cranks up the hooks and fills the bass regions, and, with the help of Mark Farina and Toka Project, hits the highs.
