Ivan Latyshev – My “M” My “S” – (Spaghetti Monster)

The brilliantly named Spaghetti Monster imprint now turn to Ivan Latyshev for their latest release. One of his country’s foremost producers of electronic music, Latyshev is something of a production veteran and has already lined up for some really excellent labels. There is little this man can’t do with his machines and this new EP proves that once again. Opening up the four-tracker is the sounds of the rough and ready title track, My M My S. Unusual in name and stature, it’s buoyed by some great drumwork and is a tough edged, tightly coiled tech banger that will keep floors locked for days. Slick and with some nice hi hat and snare action it really is a no frills killer that does what any great house track should. Then comes Give Me Love (ft. vocalist Aden Ray, which is more more laid-back and soulful cut with golden chords and spacious beats as well as a killer, classic bassline in the making. ‘Too late for Regrets’ is a solemn piece of discerning deep house, whereas EP closer ‘Ninehundredandninthizm’ is an acid-laced banger that’s all killer, no filler. Overall, this is a classy bit of work from the venerated talent and rounds out an excellent EP.
