Waifs & Strays (Lovecrimes)

This is a record you can expect to hear a lot of in 2016. It’s got that lovely balance of sophistication and crossover appeal which you associate with the likes of Defected and Secondcity, but perfectly welded to a club backing. The breezy female vox works brilliantly alongside a muted hoover sound – thank Format B for making that signature techno effect seem a good fit in radio friendly jams once again.

A dub showcases just how good the original is without the instantaneous cross reaching appeal of the vocal, whilst a Death on the Balcony remix introduces a sleazier male counterpart for the deeper floors. Throw in the whirring New Jersey garage robot redux ‘C’Mon’ and this is a killer package for Waif & Strays to launch his Lovecrimes imprint. Well worth investing in.
