Mr Krisp pricked ears all over the place with his funky “Scalextrick” release a year or two back (still a feature of many dDJ’ssets), so expectations should quite rightly be high for this latest EP, although you may be a bit surprised when you hear it. Again, taking a big piece of chunky song sample as it’s main hook, it hangs this off a frantic D&B workout, complete with oldschool hoover b-line and crashing snares. Odd as it sounds, it works a treat, and will definitely leave the dancefloor demanding another burst of it’s octane ffueledmadness. Hexstatic tame it to a more sensible breaks tempo, which – good though it is – somehow loses some of the dynamics of the track. Flipside sees two tracks from his forthcoming album release – “No Horse, No Wife, No Mustache” a slow motion Italo-influenced disco cut with pshys-ed spoken word and “Room Full Of Spies” a self-explanatory downtempo number.
