Never an artist in a rush, Superpitcher returns for Kompakt with his first album in five years. That’s perhaps a bit unfair, as ‘So Far So Super’ is a compilation of the producer’s best bits from the last few years – which means the quality threshold is high throughout. There are some classy tracks here, from the percussion-free ‘Jackson’ – beautifully spaced out – to the contrasting ‘Heroin’, with its satisfying bassy undercarriage. ‘Happiness’ is demanded over a strutting beat and deep strings, again meticulously produced, while ‘Tomorrow’ is a gorgeous nocturnal slow burner to close out a fine collection.
