Cari Lekebusch
Macabre; Goth Night
H Productions

If my addled brain cells are behaving, I first encountered Sweden’s prolific Mr Lekebusch in the mid 90s when he started releasing the Fred 12s on Missile. Since then, the man has refined his deadly sonic weapons into finely-honed instruments of mass destruction, using subtlety as much as powerhouse force to wreak carnage on the floor. These two singles trailer his upcoming artist album, which is an absolute barnstormer. ‘Macabre’, which caused a commotion on our fnoob.com radio show last week, sets up one of Cari’s inimitable percussive barrages, topped with driving 90s-style bass pulsing to mesmerising effect. The flip’s ‘Goth Night’ adds haunting vocals to the deeper atmosphere.

Meanwhile, ‘Bodysnatcher’ is another example of Cari’s lethal production skills – so beautifully delivered he now has a recognisable sound which could not be anyone else. Obviously he’s on a dark, sinister tip again, demolishing all in his path, continuing the pressure on the flip’s tumultuous ‘Shiver’. With this mighty pair and the new album, Cari consolidates his position as one of techno’s mightiest players.
