Mark Farina

Leon Louder – Symptoms – White Label
A Montreal-based house guy who’s got a weird, Chicago jacking sound with some quirky, tracky stuff going on!

King Kooba – Slightly Burnt – OM
This is gonna be out later in the summer. The jazzy, jacking track reminds me of a live jazz track in a house vein

Phono Jones – Jack Skat – White Label
East Coast American guys, almost with a Chicago gangster vibe – it’s gritty

Uneaq – I Know You Get Down – White Label
A nice jazzy, rolling track with a San Fran/Chicago tinge. These are really good musicians, they’re a three piece from San Jose, and the track has an old Kerri Chandler feel.

Late Night Society – What She Say – White Label
Late Night Society are house guys from Florida, which is rare. The track has a quirky, chunky bassline which reminds me of Inland Knights meets Todd Edwards.

Giano – King Lewis – White Label
A guy out of the middle of California, a kind of a strange place called Tresnor. This has Louis Armstrong-type samples, and bootleg EQs. I’m definitely playing this at the next OM party!

Tovar – Definition Off – White Label
This came from Miami and is out of Mexico City, an odd place for some deep house to come from. The original/D-West mixes are a bit more jacking and are reminiscent of Miguel Migs.

Beast – Calculus – White Label
Beast is a friend of Derrick Carter’s in Chicago, and this has a Little Mark meets Freaks kind of groove.

Bernard Badie feat. Dajae – Truth Hurts – Smooth Agent
This has a late night Chicago vibe.

Barada – Soydan – White Label
This is from a Turkish guy who lives in Waterford, and it’s an American sounding track, very Latiny, jazzin’ house!
