Trainspotting with Tobtok

Swedish wunderkind, Tobtok has had a busy time of late. 2019 saw him churn out killer cuts, ‘The Stand Off’ and ‘The Sting’ (produced with Perfect Havoc label boss, Adam Grffin) with the former self-certified by Mistajam as a Future Anthem and the latter receiving further BBC Radio 1 support from Annie Nightingale. Now Tobtok aka Tobias Karlsson, turns his hand to a mega collab with house legend, Todd Terry, and the celebrated, mulit-platinum producer Richard Judge on vocals (he produced ‘Show Me Love’ with Robin Schulz). ‘All Of Me’ is out now on Perfect Havoc and features as one of 10 tracks in Tobtok’s Trainspotting. Find out what else is big in his box below….

Todd Terry, Tobtok & Richard Judge ft. Oliver Nelson – All Of Me [Perfect Havoc]

This Collab is pretty crazy as it’s such a mixture of artists and a great example of old meets new with the legend that is Todd Terry being on the track. It has an interesting mix between every individual style mixed into a cool banger.

Chaney – Little Bit More [SKINT]

I don’t know who this guy is but the track is seriously bangin’. It has a really interesting mix between disco and acid house.

Boston Bun – Nothing But Rainbows [CIRCA’99]

The Bun has put out some really good music for years now and I love the new more soul-inspired direction he’s taking.

Patrick Topping – Turbo Lime [Trick]

I rinsed this track out all last summer! It’s such a cool record and I love the Italo-disco vibe in a clubby package.

Myd – The Sun [Ed Banger]

I don’t really know why I’ve been obsessing by this record lately, but I think it’s just those lo-fi detuned guitars that gets me.

Eli Brown – Always [Toolroom]

I love that wonky and dry modular synth that the whole track is basically about. Eli has definitely had a massive year.

Flume & Vera Blue – Rushing Back [Future Classic]

While Flume unfortunately is more talked about for his licking activities on stage than his music lately, he’s still bashing out great music. The topline on this tune is just absolutely stunning.

Friendly Fires – Silhouettes [Polydor]

This is one of my favourite tracks of 2019. I love how it has a Wham-vibe while feeling very modern in a way. And it’s also catchy AF!

Icona Pop – Next Mistake (Joel Corry Remix) [TEN]

My mate Joel did a stellar job on this remix. I’ve been bashing it out at the gym lately (trying to get the same muscles as him) and it just has a nice vibe to it. It reminds me a bit of Martin Solveig who I’m a big fan of.

Alex Ross – So Close [Perfect Havoc]

Certified banger from my northern mate Alex. It has a sick vocal and a nice production that I was happy enough to do some work on!
