Bloom – Another Recession Casualty

And it goes on. Another big shaker hits the dust. This weekend’s ‘Bloom’ Festival (August 14-16) has been cancelled. A really well run event that takes place at Chepstow Racecourse has already secured it’s licence for 2010, however, DJ Vadim, The Scratch Perverts, Tom Middleton and co. will not be appearing at the home of the Welsh Grand National this year. The organisers have announced that…

“There are a number of obstacles that our small team have had to deal with this year – difficult economic conditions have affected us in a big way.  Under the circumstances we feel that the best decision… is to draw a line under 2009. It’s been an incredibly difficult decision for us to make, as ‘Bloom’ is an independently run organisation, built from our very heart and souls. We have worked tirelessly for the best part of nine months on this event, which makes it very hard for us to walk away from it. However we have to think of the bigger picture and feel that we are making the right decision.”

‘Bloom’ ticket holders are eligible for a ticket exchange scheme with South Downs gathering Beachdown (August 28-31.) featuring Grace Jones, Laurent Garnier and Norman Jay. Give ’em your support.
